Aspen Highlands 'Bash For Cash' 1960's Ski Poster
An epic crash scene from the weekly Aspen Highlands 'Bash For Cash' event. This event had a Le Mans-Style Start, few rules, no gates, with all skiers in a free-for-all race down the Olympic Run face that then cut across to the Wall, which was a short steep mogul field. The first to finish line won a $100 cash price.
Due to the mass start mayhem and continual issues of skiers racing 'out of control', the event was eventually cancelled at the request of the angry ER doctors and the insurance companies. As they treated injury after injury every time this event occurred, the hospital doctors said, "In the excitement of sports competition, the participants must be protected from themselves and the Bash for Cash failed miserably on that front! Racers and race Organizers are lucky that more people were not hurt and that no one was killed."
