Killy retired from amateur racing at the end of the 1968 racing season. He made a lucrative business endorsing products both in the ski industry and in outside ventures. This is an example of Jean-Claude Killy's ability to endorse products. Killy signed a deal with Head Skis in early 1969 to endorse a metal and fiberglass ski named for him, the Killy 800. Head manufactured a line of Killy skis for at least two years, although Head was acquired by AMF later that year, in 1969.In November 1972, Killy came out of ski racing retirement at age 29 to compete on the pro circuit in the U.S. for one season. Then Killy won the 1973 season title, taking $28,625 in race winnings and a $40,000 bonus for the championship, after a spirited challenge from two-time defending champion Spider Sabich. In 1974, Killy joined the International Ski Racers Association and in that year he competed on the American professional ski racing tour and won the title. Size 20 x 30 inches.
