The story of Red River begins in the same way that many other resort stories begin: with the hunt for gold. In the late 1800s, Red River was a booming mining and hunting camp, and much of that spirit is still retained in the town's culture to this day. It's always been a prime trout fishing destination, and since the last serious mining efforts in Red River died out in 1931, tourism became the town's calling. Red River Ski Area first opened in 1959, and today it's a family-owned and operated business that has a little something for everyone, all year round!
