Wayne Wong, Skiing the 'Wong Way' Vintage K2 Ski Poster
Remember this 1970s favorite poster of Wayne Wong - Skiing the 'Wong Way'? For those of you too young to remember - Wayne was an icon in Freestyle Skiing back in the 70's. He is sporting his favorite Red, White and Blue K2 Comps. As Skiing Magazine's 1972 Freestyler of the Year, he was the poster child of the emerging hot-dog attitude. A year earlier he had taken third place at the Waterville National Exhibition, and his image - the white glasses and toothy grin, deeply tanned face, black mop of hair - was everywhere, in magazines and even in a nationally aired Pepsi commercial.
On April 16, 2009, Wong was inducted into the US Ski and Canadian Hall of Fame for his impact on skiing's culture. This was great for a guy from Vancouver, BC, who loved to ski but had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. Wayne has helped developed a revolutionary new ski called the Anton. He still sports that famous smile on his face, while also bringing a smile to those around him.
